Introduction
ndian wedding does not happen overnight, it consists of lot of other rituals and ceremonies like engagement, sangeet, haldi and lot more. And it varies based on different communities all over India. So, it requires a whole lot of planning to do before your ‘Big day’. apart from that you must consider about the different items which will be needed before and after your marriage day and there are other staffs related to your post wedding rituals. So, one need to make sure the whole process should be systematic and top notch but must keep in mind the last-minute changes and what is possible depending on your status.
Wedding in the cards
There are usually two types of people waiting to get hitched find which one are you and act accordingly.
Case 1: – where budget is not at all a concern but what you don’t have is time, simply talk to a wedding planner. They are a pro in this area and have a lot of catalogs, booklets to choose for your grand ceremony. Which makes life easier for those who are running on a tight schedule. And you also can customize your choice according to your need as well
Case 2:- Where you have ample time but budget is a constrain. Then you must make your arrangements by your own. You can take help from social media or consult your friends, talk to your local vendors which would cheaper as well.
Where should we do?
Now when the date is finalized for your wedding, the first thing one need to do is to fix your wedding venue because we Indians follow certain holy days and specific season. Due to that you will face tremendous rush and often find your wedding venue is booked well in advance. So recommended time is to book your venue at least eight to twelve months prior.
What is in the menu?
Second thing to be decided is the caterer and need to do it wisely. Everyone has thought of selecting a certain menu and want it to be of top quality and taste. the well-known caterer charges higher and mostly not available if not book well in advance. so, the suggestion here is don’t go for too much, priority should be given on the quality. And don’t overspend.
Banquet or Open Air?
Thirdly priority should be given on the ambience of the venue. If you want a budget friendly wedding consult your local vendors, decorators and the flower vendors. It would cost much less than hiring a wedding planner. But talk to them well advance.
Wedding Photographer and make up artistry
Now here comes the other important aspects that is photographer and make up artist. These guys are extremely busy as well. Many cases have been witnessed where the preferred photographer and the make up artist are not available one year prior as well. And now a days make up artists are demanding to go to their studios for makeup session. So here is the catch, they have their own social media handle. Contact them personally for a booking. Go through their portfolio and select as per requirement. They are extremely professional now a days so don’t worry about the work. I can assure you that you won’t be regretting.
DJ on the house
Can you imagine a wedding day without DJ or sangeet!!!! Mostly in North Indian weddings DJ and Sangeet is must and you should want the best DJ or Musician in the town. So, take the bookings of DJ or musician well in advance to make sure they are not involved in any other’s party.
Shop-Hop on Hop Off
Now let’s jump to the other important part which is an indefinite story. Yes, you guessed it right, ‘shopping’. Come on it’s you are big day and you want to look like a queen or a king. You should deal with this part very carefully by making sure nothing is left behind. Prepare an excel, put all the things which will be needed and maintain a tracker sheet as well to keep check that which is done, and which is not. Trust me your initial list will be double before your ‘D-Day’. So, keep this part is in your top priority list a well.
Have you booked the hotel?
Next part is to make a checklist of guest. This part can be started later than the other’s we have already discussed on, but it is a thing on which your reputation and prestige depends as well. We have lots of guests so what usually happens even though can the people whom we are interacting daily but there are others who are our relative but somehow, we are not in touch or the extended families or out stationed friends. But we must make sure they should appear in your guest list. Secondly guests who are not staying close by and cannot return to their places same day, you need to arrange guest houses for them. So, talk to the guest house owners much prior so that guest houses or hotels are available on the required days.
Wedding Card
Invitation card also need to be printed early enough. As we have already talked about that we have relatives who are staying out of town. So, your invitation card would take some time to reach them and they need to plan early enough for getting leaves to attain your wedding, so it is always good to arrange the same three four months prior.
Call the Pandit-ji
Lastly one more thing which I place at last, but it is not the least. That is arranging the priest. We are Indians and we follow some certain rules and rituals like a specific pandits are eligible to do a wedding depending on the casts. You need to contact them in advance as well because the other things like the wedding planner can have multiple teams and work on two or three weddings but a pandit is only capable of attending one at a time.
There are few other things one need to consider.
- Preparation for wedding is very hectic and very time consuming. So before starting any activity which we have talked about do proper research as nobody wants to rework.
- You can divide the works between the closed ones or someone whom you can rely upon but be in synchronization with all.
- Don’t take too much of stress. We all know that marriage is tricky but taking too much stress can make the situation worse only
- Try to spend more time on you when your wedding day is approaching, after all everyone wants to look prettiest on this day.
